Archivist Safety Matches: The Lighthouse

There’s a quiet nostalgia to this small cylinder—something about the lighthouse motif that feels steady, familiar, and slightly romantic. Set against a coastal scene with waves breaking at the base, the illustration leans into that sense of calm resilience, softened by a playful, almost storybook quality. It’s the kind of object that doesn’t try too hard, yet naturally draws the eye.

The compact form keeps it easy to place—on a bedside table, a bathroom ledge, or alongside a favourite candle. Pop the lid, strike a match, and it becomes part of a small, everyday ritual. With 45 matchsticks inside, it’s designed for regular use, while still holding onto its decorative charm.
